A Guide to Weighing Your Cat

Published date: 11 March 2024

According to the 2023 PDSA Paw Report, 26% of vets see obesity as one of the top welfare concerns for cats.

Regularly weighing your cat is key to keeping them healthy. By popping them on the scales every week, you will be more aware of any changes.

Weighing a cat might seem like a challenge, however it doesn’t need to be. Here is a step-by-step guide

  1. Stand on your bathroom scales, then press them to zero.
  2. Either pick up your cat or have someone pass you your furry friend.
  3. Take note of their weight and aim to weigh them every week.
  4. If you struggle with weighing at home, you can always pop into your local Pets Corner, where we can weigh your cat for free.

Regular weighing is essential for keeping cats fit and healthy. However, diet plays an important role too. If you are struggling to help your cat shed some pounds, try using a proper Light Diet.

MORE Lighter is formulated with L-Carnitine, this weight loss supplement aids in converting fat to energy. Combining this diet with an increase in exercise (check out our Guide to Playing with Cats) will aid in maintaining a lean body mass.
